What's been happening?

Well, the engine is run in and all has felt good. Well, except for the fact that I'm now only running stock boost and fear that my boost controller has died. I did have it booked in for Thursday for a tune and so I could find out why it's down on boost. But as luck would have it something jumped up on Sunday. An oil leak.

That's right, I fear the oil cooler has cracked again, and the recommendation after they re welded it last time, was if it happens again I should replace it. After all, it's a cheap jap spec one that has now been welded twice, so time to get a PWR.

I rang up the shop today and have changed my booking for Thursday where they'll figure out what the leak is, and if they confirm it's the cooler then they'll supply and fit a PWR unit (at least I believe that is the case).

Meanwhile, I've also placed an order for some new wheels. I'm getting some Simmons FR15x6.5s made up and hopefully they'll be ready by the end of this week. Retro in Sydney are building them (as Simmons no longer build the 15s), so once built I'll get them shipped down here to Canberra. I can't wait!

So that's the main sorta mechanical things going on, activities wise the following have occured:
  • Got my CAMS L2S license
  • Participated in my first motorkhana, had a blast, and can't wait until the next one in March
  • Went out to Wakefield on Australia Day to check out the Autosports day
  • Participated in a skid pan day and learnt a lot and had some fun (but think I enjoyed the motorkhana more)
Coming up soon:
  • I've kicked off a regular ACT rotary meetup that I've named FACTOR M! (Which is an anagram for Fortnightly ACT Original Rotor Meetup - crazy, but hey.) The first of which is this Friday night, so should be interesting.
  • The following week-end is the third annual Canberra Coast Cruise, so looking forward to that (as it will be my first).
  • Sometime after that is the REACT Dyno day, but hopefully I'll get the tune done before then and sort out the boost etc.
  • Seeing I've now got my CAMs license I can participate in the local hillclimbs, so once car is sorted out I plan to do that (which is monthly)
  • I can't wait to get back to Wakefield for a drive (rather than all this spectating biz), but waiting for the car to get sorted and for the weather to cool down a bit (but will be attending the RENEW Wakefield day to take some pics)
  • Finally plan to hit WSID at least once this year to give the drags a bit of a go. Don't care what times I get, just going for the experience (which will hopefully be a fun one).
Well, hopefully I'll post up more. I'll try and make sure I update after my shop visit on Thursday. ;)
